Siemens have a wide range of BTE (behind the ear) product formats and the Ace is one of them. So with options of Pure, Motion, Life, Aquaris et al, what is the unique selling point of the Siemens Ace? The Ace is positioned and described by Siemens as the most discreet hearing aid in its class.
It is a RIC (receiver in the canal) format which position the receiver or speaker in the ear canal and allows the size of the BTE housing to be considerably reduced. It has further advantages in that the separation of the microphone from the receiver enables more gain or amplification to be provided before the risk of feedback occurs. RIC hearing aids are commonplace across the industry but the Siemens Ace takes it one stage further by using a very small receiver adding to its miniaturisation and cosmetic appeal.
The technology within the Ace is dependent upon what system is specified but it is capable of using the latest Micon chip platform launched by Siemens in late 2012 so within the limitations of its size it is a very capable hearing aid.
Hearing aids are always a balance between hearing benefit to enable people to enjoy communication with the world around them against the continued stigma and social standing that hearing aids suffer. It is ironic that with www.ces as discreet and loaded with technology as the Siemens Ace the historical reluctance to use hearing aids still prevails but as will happen for most of us, at the point when we need a hearing aid a miniature Siemens Ace will be the perfect option.
