Siemens Pure is a product format that is available in different product families and at different technology levels. So under the banner of the Siemens Pure there are products ranging from the entry level Pure 101 to the extremely high tech Pure Micon 7mi This methodology of naming can be quite confusing but in essence a “Siemens Pure” is a small BTE (behind the ear) hearing aid which uses RIC (receiver in the canal) technology.
So what does all that jargon amount to? The BTE is small as the receiver or speaker sits in the ear canal and is on the end of a wire. This allows the case or the part that sits behind your ear to be smaller and more discrete. It also allows more amplification to be delivered and keeps the ear canal open, thereby being more comfortable than traditional hearing aids that would use a thick tube and an ear mould. The Pure is kept small by using either a size 312 battery or a rechargeable battery system.
However, as a product format it is large enough to house all the necessary technology to deliver the best hearing benefit possible. This can include wireless compatibility, telecoil if required and twin microphone directionality.
The components are not exposed to the environment of the ear canal which can be hostile to miniature electronics and in the Micon range are protected against moisture and dust ingress with an Ingress Protection Rating of 67
While hearing aids are all about being invisible the Pure is marketed with a wide range of colour choices, so if you wish to add a certain style there are some startling options available or for those who wish to be more subtle the colour palette extends to the more muted beiges and greys.
At Hearingaidsdirect we advocate the use of this particular product format as the best combination of size, discretion and robustness. The Pure is a very sensible choice whatever the level of technology within it.
