Oticon Alta and Alta Pro Review

Both Oticon Alta and Oticon Alta Pro are modern devices utilising evolutionary sound processing chips inside. While they are similar on the surface, they are not absolutely the same. We have highlighted some of the main differences between the two below.

Oticon Alta Hearing Aid

Oticon Alta

Oticon Alta is operated with the Inium sound processing algorithm. This algorithm has the best size to performance ratio and the most advanced signal processor in terms of power. It uses less power compared to its predecessor and the processor possibilities allow for a variety of individual parameters. Additionally, it features Oticon’s quad-core platform, which sees the beginning of a whole new technological revolution in hearing aids.

The remarkable algorithms inside Oticon Alta can deliver desired sound quality across different environments. The Alta is wireless enabled and can be linked to a range of compatible accessories, using the ConnectLine. It can also be connected to various household devices using Bluetooth.

The Alta is provided in a broad range of product formats including In-The-Ear (ITE) and Behind-The-Ear (BTE) models. The BTE hearing aids include Receiver-In-The-Ear (RIC) technology. The choice of colours is immense, so the aid can be tailored to the individual preferences of the wearer. Products from the Completely-In-The-Canal (CIC) format are offered in four tones, including more traditional colours.

Oticon Alta Pro Hearing Aid

Oticon Alta Pro

Oticon Alta Pro is the more innovative version of the Alta, again using the 10 channel sound processor – Inium Chip Platform. The platform allows faster operation of composite algorithms using less power. The quantity of channels is not extraordinary compared to other manufacturers, however it is quite enough to meet the needs of most and provides  a high quality sound experience.

Inside, the Alta Pro has top-notch algorithms including Speech Guard E. This algorithm responds to the changes in the surrounding environment, ensuring that unexpected alterations in noise are well adjusted to a comfortable level. Other key algorithms are the Spatial and Free Focus which keep you oriented and allow you to concentrate on speech from the front.

All internal components of the hearing aid are nano coated to protect against dust particles and moisture. The Oticon uses T-Caps, Pro Wax and O-Cap to make sure parts are water and damage resistant. The Alta Pro is available in an ample selection of product formats. The colour palette is also inclusive to complement the mechanical design of the product. It is wireless compatible and supports Bluetooth connection.

For: With all the technology inside both Oticon Alta and the Alta Pro, on the scale from 1 to 10, both hearing aids measure 9+. In addition, they are available in a great variety of product formats and colours.

Against: Fewer algorithm packages than competitive products in a similar price range.
